IBR-DORMIN® INCI: Narcissus Tazetta Bulb Extract

Is a natural, aqueous extract from Narcissus Bulbs in dormancy that is able to slow cell proliferation, thereby slows skin turn over - maintain sunless tanning longer.

SKIN CELLS PROLIFERATION AND TURNOVER

Skin cells proliferate in the basal layer. From there, they only migrate and mature, change their appearance to get to the skin surface (stratum corneum of the epidermis) as squamous cells in roof tile shape, ready to form a smooth, well protecting shield. The rate of proliferation in the basal layer also determines the rate of cell migration to the outer skin layers and overall skin turnover rate. Controlling the cell proliferation rate (slowing it down) in the basal layer, will affect and slowdown the cells from reaching the surface. This means, slower, more controlled and healthier skin turnover. The removal of cells from the outer layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, is slower.

SUNLESS TANNING

These days, you can find tanning pills, sunless- or self-tanners and bronzers achieving that sun-free tan.

According to the AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cell, Aa color change occurs. This change usually lasts about five to seven days from the initial application.

THE EFFECT OF IBR-DORMIN® ON LONGEVITY OF SUNLESS TAN

The IBR-DORMIN® being able to slowdown cell proliferation, is able to slowdown the turnover of the skin and thereby maintain sunless tanning, longer.

A test was designed to compare longevity of sunless tanning on the skin after application of cream containing IBR-Dormin with commercial AHAs containing product. The study results showed that with twice daily application of IBR-Dormincontaining cream, sunless tanning last longer, compared to base line and AHAs cream.
